Goma: North-Kivu communities come together to resolve conflicts

Deputies, senators, traditional chiefs, civil society actors and other social strata of the province of North Kivu, are gathered at a round table starting this Thursday, July 30, 2020, with the aim of identifying the roots of inter-ethnic conflicts in the province and find solutions for a lasting peace in this province shaken by wars for several years.
This so-called « truthful » social dialogue is organized by the provincial government headed by Governor Carly Nzanzu Kasivita. More than 200 participants from all the tribes of North Kivu are taking part in this meeting which will last 3 days, until Saturday, August 1st.
« This dialogue aims to contribute to the consolidation of peace, social cohesion and the stabilization of our beloved province beyond the diversity and differences that characterize any human community established on the same territory…. It must be recognized that in North Kivu, conflicts have led and still lead to unfortunate consequences beyond the ordinary, and we must be very careful, » urged Governor Carly Kasivita in her solemn opening speech.
Civil society, for its part, is finding organizational « quagmire » and denouncing the exclusion of certain communities. This citizen structure calls for this dialogue not to be politicized.
